New Jersey iGaming Revenue Reaches Record High in August

In August, New Jersey’s iGaming sector shattered previous records by generating $248.4 million in revenue, marking a significant milestone for the state’s gambling industry. Overall, gambling revenue in New Jersey for the month totaled $642.2 million, reflecting a robust growth of 15.7% compared to the same month last year, and a 5.9% increase from July 2025, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

Despite the continued dominance of land-based casinos, which contributed the largest share to the overall revenue, the standout performance was seen in the iGaming sector. The impressive figures for iGaming brought its revenue close to a quarter of a billion dollars, highlighting the growing influence of digital gambling platforms.

In the iGaming domain, revenue surged by 25.2% year-on-year for August, narrowly surpassing the previous state record set in July by 0.4%. Online slots were the primary revenue driver, contributing a substantial $245.7 million, a 25.4% increase from 2024. In contrast, internet poker, though a smaller portion of the market, added $2.6 million, reflecting a 10.2% rise from the previous year.

Leading the iGaming market, FanDuel in partnership with Golden Nugget maintained their top position with $57.1 million in revenue, showcasing a remarkable 38.2% growth. DraftKings, alongside Resorts World, followed closely with $47.1 million, marking an increase of 9%. BetMGM and Borgata secured the third spot with a significant 46.9% rise to $32.6 million. Borgata’s individual platform generated $20.6 million, experiencing a modest growth of 1.4%. Completing the top five, Caesars Palace and Tropicana Atlantic City achieved $17.1 million, up 21.7%.

In addition to iGaming, sports betting also saw a notable increase. Revenue from sports betting rose by 30.6% to reach $81.9 million. Online betting significantly contributed to this growth, with revenue climbing 31.5% to $79.3 million, while retail revenue increased by 8% to $2.6 million. The total amount wagered by customers on sports was $814.3 million, a 16.5% increase from August 2024, with $778.8 million bet online and $35.5 million at retail sportsbooks.

FanDuel and Meadowlands led the online sports betting market with $31.6 million in revenue, up 30.7%. Although specific handle totals for individual operators were not disclosed, the overall figures indicate a thriving online sports betting environment. DraftKings and Resorts World reported $27.9 million, an impressive 80.1% increase. BetMGM and Borgata’s revenue grew by 73.2% to $7.7 million, while Bet365 and Hard Rock ranked fourth with a 47% increase to $5.2 million. Caesars and Tropicana rounded out the top five with $3.2 million, up 24.2%.

Among retail operators, Meadowlands stood out with $1.6 million, a substantial 93.2% increase, setting it apart from its competitors. Monmouth Park, the second-largest retail operator, recorded $286,316, though this represented a decline of 37.2%.

Meanwhile, land-based casinos in New Jersey generated $311.9 million in revenue, marking a 6.1% increase. Slot machines accounted for $234.3 million of this revenue, a 5.7% rise, and table games contributed $77.6 million, up 7.1%.

The tax revenue collected by the state from gambling activities in August amounted to $86.1 million. This consisted of $49.1 million from iGaming, $16.4 million from online sports betting, $204,451 from retail sportsbooks, and $20.4 million from land-based casinos.

For the year 2025, up to the end of August, total gambling revenue reached $4.57 billion, reflecting a 9.7% year-on-year increase. Land-based casinos earned $1.98 billion, iGaming contributed $1.88 billion, and sports betting amassed $708.7 million.

This robust performance underscores the dynamic nature of New Jersey’s gambling market, where digital platforms continue to gain traction. Some industry insiders speculate that the steady rise of iGaming could eventually rival the traditional land-based casino sector. “The growth figures are astonishing,” they muse, considering the rapid digital transformation in gambling preferences. However, others caution that the sustainability of this growth could hinge on regulatory changes and market saturation.

In contrast to the optimistic outlook, there are concerns about the potential impact of increased competition from neighboring states that are expanding their own iGaming and sports betting offerings. Some industry experts warn that New Jersey’s market share might face challenges if neighboring regions implement more attractive regulatory frameworks or offer competitive tax incentives.

Nevertheless, the current trajectory suggests a bright future for New Jersey’s iGaming industry, supported by strong consumer demand and strategic partnerships among operators. As the market continues to evolve, stakeholders remain attentive to trends and regulatory developments that could influence the next phases of growth. With the ongoing advancements and consumer shifts towards digital gambling, New Jersey’s iGaming sector seems well-positioned to maintain its upward momentum, albeit with careful navigation of emerging challenges.
