LeoVegas Introduces In-House Sportsbook 'Tiger' to UK Market

On Wednesday, LeoVegas Group initiated the launch of its proprietary sportsbook, Tiger, within the United Kingdom, expanding its presence across its prominent brands: BetMGM, LeoVegas, and BetUK. This strategic introduction into the UK market follows prior rollouts of Tiger in Denmark, Brazil, and Sweden. This move is part of a broader two-year strategy supported by the Tipico US platform, which LeoVegas acquired in 2024. This launch is significant as it enhances the company’s portfolio in a highly competitive market, highlighting the legal and commercial implications for regulatory compliance and business operations.

The UK market entry signifies a vital advancement for LeoVegas in its ongoing efforts to enhance its sportsbook offerings with customer-related features like enhanced odds, partial cash-out options, and a “flex combi” product aimed at offering flexible combination betting solutions. The proprietary nature of the Tiger sportsbook allows LeoVegas to quickly adapt to market demands and innovate, underpinning its ambitions for sustained growth and competitive positioning.

Adrian Vella, LeoVegas Group’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of this launch, describing it as a key milestone in their journey to develop a proprietary, high-caliber sportsbook. Each market introduction has provided opportunities to refine the platform, enhance user experience, and bolster competitive advantage. The strategic vision is to utilize this sportsbook across all international markets, with the exception of the US, where LeoVegas operates via the BetMGM joint venture with Entain.

The initial launch of the in-house sportsbook began in Denmark the previous year. At that time, MGM Resorts International, the parent company of LeoVegas, expressed that this initiative would permit LeoVegas to manage a dedicated proprietary sportsbook on a global scale, except for those markets operated under the US partnership. James Derbyshire, UK & Ireland Sports Director at LeoVegas Group, remarked on the significance of this launch in a market as competitive as the UK, underscoring the tailored features developed specifically for UK customers.

The acquisition of Tipico US was a substantial step in enabling LeoVegas to fast-track control over its technological infrastructure rather than building these capabilities internally. This acquisition included management and trading teams, which were essential in accelerating the Group’s timeline to market, particularly in emerging markets like Brazil. Despite reports of integration delays, LeoVegas continues to pursue a phased rollout plan. This approach ensures thorough testing, compliance with regulatory requirements, and an ongoing focus on player experience optimization.

Looking ahead, LeoVegas aims to continue its phased expansion strategy, ensuring each new market is thoroughly tested and compliant with local regulations. The company remains committed to refining its offerings and adapting to regulatory changes, with an eye on long-term growth and market adaptation. This methodical approach will enable LeoVegas to ensure the Tiger sportsbook meets regulatory standards and customer expectations across diverse markets.
