Mohegan Sun Announces 50 Cent, John Mayer, and Flo Rida for 30th Anniversary

Mohegan Sun Announces 50 Cent, John Mayer, and Flo Rida for 30th Anniversary

50 Cent to Headline Main Anniversary Event

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, owner and operator of Mohegan Sun, announced on Friday, Sept. 25, that rapper 50 Cent will headline the resort’s 30th anniversary celebration. The main event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, in the Uncas Ballroom inside the Sky Convention Center, with a performance expected to begin around 10 p.m.

Mohegan Sun described the evening as featuring an “elegant Art Deco theme” and a “high-energy dance floor.” Tickets for the 50 Cent performance start at $200 and include an open bar. DJ Cassidy is set to host the event. Guest appearances are confirmed for Kyle Cooke from the television series “Summer House” and four cast members from “Real Housewives”: Teresa Giudice, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, and Kelsey Swanson.

Extended Concert and Gaming Schedule

The anniversary programming extends beyond the central birthday party, with major musical acts scheduled throughout early October at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Alanis Morissette is set to perform on Friday, Oct. 2, followed by the Foo Fighters on Sunday, Oct. 4. John Mayer will take the stage on Oct. 9.

On Oct. 10, coinciding with the 50 Cent event, Lainey Wilson is scheduled to perform in the Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, Flo Rida is booked for a special engagement in the Wolf Den on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. The musical lineup concludes with a “Pass the Mic” show hosted by DJ Cassidy on Sunday, Oct. 11. That event features Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Jadakiss, and Nelly.

Gaming promotions are also tied to the anniversary. The resort will host a slot tournament with a $100,000 prize. In the poker room, which contains 33 tables, a no-limit hold’em tournament will offer a $30,000 guarantee for a $300 buy-in. The FanDuel Sportsbook at Mohegan Sun will run a free-to-enter pick’em contest during the birthday party, with a grand prize of $30,000.

Context for Connecticut Tribal Gaming

Mohegan Sun’s actual opening date was Monday, Oct. 12, 1996, marking the start of its 30th year in operation. The resort opened with slot machines and table games. It is one of two casino properties in Connecticut operated by federally recognized Native American tribes, the other being Foxwoods Resort Casino, operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA), signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Oct. 17, 1988, established the federal framework for tribal gaming in the United States. Foxwoods, which began as a bingo hall in 1986 and expanded into a casino in 1992, celebrated its own 30th anniversary in 2022. That milestone included the announcement of the Pequot Woodlands Casino—Bedford by Martha Stewart and a $300 million investment in a Great Wolf Lodge.

Mohegan Sun currently consists of two distinct casino facilities: Casino of the Earth and Casino of the Sky. The property features more than 4,000 slot machines and over 300 live dealer table games. A 140-foot video wall is located in the FanDuel Sportsbook area.

Why It Matters

The announcement confirms the specific dates, venues, and celebrity lineup for Mohegan Sun's milestone year, providing a clear schedule for visitors and operators. The inclusion of major musical acts alongside high-stakes gaming promotions signals a strategy to drive significant traffic to the resort's two casino facilities. For industry observers, the event underscores the continued use of high-profile entertainment as a primary driver for tribal casino revenue in Connecticut.
