In a bold move signaling confidence in the future of Las Vegas as the premier hub for global gaming and entertainment, the renowned Diamond Resorts Group has announced a massive $250 million expansion project for its flagship property on the Las Vegas Strip. The ambitious plan aims to introduce state-of-the-art gaming facilities, luxury accommodations, and innovative entertainment options, slated to commence in early 2024.
The announcement was made during a press conference held yesterday at The Diamond, where CEO Martin Jacobs detailed the expansion project’s phases, expected to propel the Las Vegas economy and redefine the gaming landscape. Jacobs highlighted that the project would not only enhance the resort’s capacity but also introduce pioneering technology and sustainability practices in its operations.
“This expansion is not just about enlarging our footprint,” Jacobs explained. “It’s about setting new standards in the gaming and hospitality industry. We are integrating smart technology, eco-friendly practices, and avant-garde gaming technology that speaks to and elevates the customer experience.”
According to the development plan, The Diamond will add a new 350-room tower with panoramic views of the cityscape, featuring suites equipped with the latest smart home technology. The casino floor will undergo a complete overhaul, expanding its current size by approximately 30,000 square feet to accommodate an additional 500 gaming machines and 50 gaming tables, including a state-of-the-art sports betting lounge.
In response to the growing demand for versatile entertainment offerings, the expansion includes the construction of a 4,000-seat multipurpose event center designed to host concerts, sports events, and conventions. An innovative feature of the new center is its adaptive design, which can transform its layout and seating arrangements digitally via an app tailored to each event’s specific needs.
The project also prioritizes sustainability, with plans to install solar panels atop the new buildings and introduce a water recycling system that will reduce the resort’s environmental footprint. These initiatives are part of a broader commitment by Diamond Resorts Group to align with global sustainability goals and appeal to environmentally conscious travelers.
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting its potential to boost local employment and tourism. “This isn’t just a win for The Diamond; it’s a win for Las Vegas,” said Mayor Goodman. “It’s projects like these that invigorate our city and keep it at the forefront of the entertainment and gaming industry worldwide.”
Industry experts predict that the expansion could set a new trend in Las Vegas, encouraging other properties to upgrade facilities and embrace technological innovations. Analyst Rebecca Liu from Gaming and Resorts Research remarked, “The Diamond’s expansion could very well be the benchmark for future developments along the Strip. It’s designed not just for today’s audience but for the future generation of casino-goers.”
The expansion is expected to create over 1,000 construction jobs and a further 800 permanent positions once the new facilities are operational. With an anticipated completion date in mid-2026, the project could be a critical factor in Las Vegas’ post-pandemic recovery by attracting a higher volume of tourists and re-establishing the city as a leading destination not just for gaming but for a comprehensive entertainment experience.
As The Diamond Resorts Group prepares to break ground on this transformative project, all eyes will be on Las Vegas to see how this ambitious endeavor might reshape the economic and entertainment landscapes of one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
